Serbia’s official entry for the Oscars - a story of a retired music professor Misha Brankov who discovers his true origins - draws eloquent parallels between present-day treatment of Gypsies in Serbia and its wartime Jewish population.
Misha’s life is turned upside down following the discovery of an old tin box on the site of a wartime concentration camp. Inside is an unfinished musical score composed by his real father, and Misha is determined to honour him by getting the piece performed live.
With beautiful cinematography and a compelling lead performance by Mustafa Naderevic, this is a deceptively simple story about how much strength it takes - both for people and countries - to unpick what really happened from what we’d like to believe.
