Part of The Shock of Victory Forum Events.

Artists Joanna Peace and Serra Tansel spent June and July this year in Athens, Greece, as witnesses to and participants in a time of intense political activity. Putting their bodies amongst many other bodies at protests and rallies and around tables - on the night of the referendum on 5th July 2015 and on many other nights - was an emotional and politicising experience for them both.

For this event, as part of The Shock of Victory Forum, the artists have invited people from a range of backgrounds and professions to contribute writing, images, music, film, objects and poetry that reflect upon, question or re-imagine the events of summer 2015 in Greece. These people are mostly Greek, though not all, and based in Athens, though some are now back in their respective European countries. What connects them is that they shared this time in Athens with Joanna and Serra.

On Sunday 27 September this contributed material will be shared and reflected upon through screenings and readings amongst visual material in the Forum space, followed by a discussion. By creating a temporary assembly of voices in the Forum space, and situating these voices in proximity with discussions marking a year since the Scottish Referendum of 2014, the artists hope to open a space in which to explore activism and friendship, emotion and politics, affect and memory.

Joanna Peace is an artist and writer based in Glasgow. Serra Tansel is an artist working between London and Istanbul.

With contributions from: Laura Bray & Dimitris Kassis; Becky Campbell; Catriona Gallagher; Dimitris Makropoulos; Panagis Marketos; Elisabeth Molin; Maria Papapostolou; Sofia Stevi; Stelios Tsilioukas; Augustus Veinoglou; Talc Design Studio; Aggelos Christopoulos and Lydia Lazari.

Joanna and Serra are creating an online publication featuring all of the material contributed to this event, which will be available to view in the coming weeks.
