Signalling the countdown to Scotland’s landmark independence referendum on 18 September, 2014, KILTR hosts a series of live debates between now and then.
These debates, which will also be streamed online at KILTR as they happen, will focus on key areas - The Arts, Women and Young People - and how a Yes or No vote might impact. The fourth debate, in recognition of Scotland’s leadership in technology of which KILTR plays an important part, will focus on Digital Scotland in the Global Marketplace.
The first KILTR Referendum Debate – The Creatives - takes place here at CCA. The panel who will present their case in front of an invited audience of creative industry leaders are: Alasdair Gray (artist and author), Stuart Braithwaite (musician), Mark Hogarth (Creative Director, Harris Tweed Hebrides), Pauline McNeil (former Shadow Secretary for Culture). Focus will be on the impact a Yes or No vote will have on the arts community in Scotland from funding and the impact on opportunities internationally, to how the longer term creative landscape might be shaped whatever the end result.
Demand for the first KILTR debate, of which KILTR’s position is impartial, will be high and capacity is extremely limited.
