KPC Gets Around

Kinning Park 18 Jan cubn
As part of our Waste Not Want project - providing community meals using surplus food from supermarkets which is destined for waste - our resident Chef Danny, at KPC, and a team of volunteers are creating a mobile bicycle noodle bar using reclaimed materials from around the building and the city. We are planning to use this bike to deliver food to the homeless in Glasgow City Centre over the Winter months. We are documenting the project from the beginning and presenting our work on the night.
On the night you will be able to sample the delicious goods of our noodle bar as well as lots of other food made by our amazing volunteers in our KPCafé. We are hoping that this will encourage conversations around food poverty and the way in which food is distributed around our city. If you want to get involved this project send us an email to hello@kinningparkcomplex.org and volunteer@kinningparkcomplex.org.
The Waste Not Want Project is funded by the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund - since its inception in 2016 the community kitchen at KPC has prevented 67,382kg of CO2 emissions - that is the equivalent amount of carbon emissions released to produce 5 tonnes of beef. Considering the amount of meat the average person eats, this is enough to feed 117 people for a whole year.
