The CCA/LUX Critical forum will host an afternoon of screenings, discussions and guest speakers exploring the medium of animation within moving image practice today. This informal symposium is open to all members of the public and will look at animation’s position as a contemporary device for artists working with moving image, probing the methods and guises of emergent animated film and video.

Taking the Norman McLaren Centenary as a frame for considering new work, this event is the result of research and discussion between members of the group aiming to highlight issues of relevance for moving image practitioners, artists, writers and spectators alike.

Artists include:

Benjamin Neul
David Theobald
Hito Steyerl
Ian Cheng
Jonny Long
Katy Dove
Mary Reid Kelley
Oliver Laric
Rob Kennedy
Sarah Dobai
Savinder Bual

The LUX Critical Forum is a monthly discussion group for artists who work with the moving image to talk about ideas and practice in a mutually supportive environment, in dialogue with LUX.
