Vienen las grietas / Daniel Mateo Vallejo / Colombia, Netherlands / 2022

Five Ibero-American short films that seek to explore changing notions of masculinity, expose patterns that must be left behind and celebrate diversity and different perspectives because being a man is not a one-size-fits-all concept.

***

Navigating masculinity in the 21st century involves redefining traditional gender roles, embracing diversity, and challenging outdated stereotypes. Programming a collection of short films that explore changing notions of masculinity is a powerful way to engage with and challenge the violent and toxic traditions of patriarchy.

We encourage a deeper exploration of the themes presented in the films. This programme could provide a platform for open dialogue about masculinity and help promote healthier and more inclusive definitions.

This selection will cover topics such as embracing emotional intelligence to express one's feelings and accepting others to do the same, challenging toxic masculinity to foster healthy relationships, rejecting violence, promoting empathy, and celebrating diversity and different perspectives.
