Nineteen & Twenty is a performance composed of live and recorded speech in which the communicative value of language emerges from its sonic qualities. Reduced to pure sound, the possibility of speech conveying information is removed, only to be reintroduced, first through the vocalized articulation of individual letters, before spiraling into whole words and sentences. The performers use an arrangement of radios and FM transmitters as their means of amplification, further manifesting the material qualities of language and sound.
