Julien Baker
Julien Baker has been recording new material in her native Memphis, due to be released later in 2017 on Matador Records. In addition to selections from 2015’s widely acclaimed Sprained Ankle and 2017’s Funeral Pyre 7”, fans can expect a hefty dose of new music on this tour.
The first half of 2017 has already seen Baker tour worldwide, with headline shows across North America, Australia and Europe, as well as support slots for Conor Oberst (described by Consequence Of Sound as having 'stunned with her 30-minute opening set') and The Decemberists ('a short, beautiful set of favorites from her 2015 debut', said Brooklyn Vegan), while a headline performance at London’s Bush Hall in June sold out within twenty four hours.
Julien Baker’s latest 7” Funeral Pyre – her debut release for Matador Records – together with previously unreleased track B-side ‘Distant Solar Systems’, has recently earned critical acclaim from outlets including The New York Times, Stereogum, Pitchfork, MOJO, Entertainment Weekly, Noisey, DIY and more, and can be heard here. Baker’s heralded 2015 debut album Sprained Ankle is available digitally and was re-released by Matador physically worldwide (ex-U.S. and Australia) in March.
