Sarah Kenchington and Will Saunders

Sarah Kenchington builds her own remarkable mechanical instruments, including a pedal-powered hurdy-gurdy, a giant rotating kalimba and her own brass band, powered by tractor inner-tubes. She plays one-woman shows using these contraptions, and more recently has begun to use them to conduct small ensembles.

For this one off event Will Saunders will join Sarah on stage, adding video footage and processed sound recordings collected during visits to Sarah's caravan-home over the last few years. Notably, the sound material is "resonated" through both a glass screen and the body of one of Sarah's instruments.

This improvised performance will extend Kenchington's practice in order to offer a tasteful peek into the daily workings of an important musical sculptor.
