UN*DEPENDENCE Film Festival

Lifting the Veil with Film editing lecture + The Human Condition with Director Talk

The Festival explores what it is to be human in our world's dynamic societies. The night hosts two screening programmes, each with post screening discussions. ‘Lifting the Veil’ looks into the lives of people around the world and their lack of human rights with guest speaker Nigel Honey, an acclaimed filmmaker. The second screening, ‘The Human Mind’, looks at how people’s thoughts and emotions evolve and the psychological issues they face.

Nigel Honey has had an interest in the arts since starting his career in TV and Film at the age of 16. He has over seventeen years’ experience in Television and Film Editing, as well as completing a BA (Hons) in Media Production from University of West Scotland, and a two year DTLLS teaching qualification to lecture in Further and Higher Media Education. He was trained at Pinewood Studios and is one of only three Certified Instructors in Scotland to teach AVID Media Composer editing used in 80% of TV and Film editing within the UK and Hollywood. His work has been screened at Cannes, Raindance, Berlin, Bordeaux, Edinburgh and BAFTA film festivals.

Nigel will be giving a talk on Documentary Editing and Feature Film Editing, showing examples of his work followed by a Q&A session.
