Rumman Festival The National Youth Orchestra of Iraq – talk by Paul MacAlindin

The National Youth Orchestra of Iraq is the brainchild of Zuhal Sultan, a young pianist from Baghdad who founded the orchestra when she was just seventeen. The orchestra convened in Iraq for the first time in August 2009 for a two-week intensive course, culminating in a gala concert in the northern Kurdish city of Sulaymaniyah.

Paul MacAlindin, musical director of the National Youth Orchestra of Iraq, will discuss how the orchestra was formed and the challenges encountered along the way.
