‘Mindlick’ is a modern take on Theseus and The Minotaur - part man and part bull – who dwelt at the centre of the Labyrinth: an elaborate maze-like construction designed by the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus. Fug and Simp’s story is combined with Stanky Bean’s (The Rake) Progress the decline and fall of Tom Rakewell, who deserts Anne Trulove for the delights of London. In the company of Turdly (Nick Shadow), who turns out to be the Devil. After several misadventures, all initiated by the devious Shadow, Turdly ends up in Mindlick (Bedlam), a hospital for the 'insane' at that time situated in the City of London.
