Developed by The Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA), The SAY Award is one of Scotland’s most ambitious and lucrative arts prizes. With £20,000 awarded to the winning album, nine runners-up prizes of £1,000 and two new Art Commissions celebrating emerging and established artistic practice, The SAY Award champions the strength and diversity of Scotland’s musical output and the vital, enduring relationship it shares with the world of visual art.
This year The SAY Award is partnering with the Centre for Contemporary Arts Glasgow to support a new art award designed to support emerging creative practitioners in Scotland.
Scottish Album of the Year Awards
Graduate Art and Design Commission
Deadline: 9am, Mon 2 March
CCA and the Scottish Album of the Year Award are looking for submissions from 2014 graduates of any Scottish art and design school to send a proposal for the creation of a new artwork or design object for each of the 10 short listed bands/musicians for the 2015 Scottish Album of the Year Award.
Brief
- To create 10 design objects, artworks or editions that will be gifted to the shortlisted SAY award artists.
- These could be zines, prints, posters, sculptures, paintings, ceramics, publications, trophies, textiles, conceptual works; there are no set parameters.
- Artists and designers are encouraged to think creatively about the connection between art and music, or the context of Scottish art and music with their proposals.
Artist fee: £1000
Production costs: Up to £2500
Submission material:
- A proposal for your 10 artworks or designs (no more than 1 side of A4)
- A production budget outlining the costs of producing the works
- An updated C.V
- Supporting material: 6 Images of previous work (if appropriate) in PDF format.
- Any other supporting documentation, writing, press or collaborative work appropriate to the application (no more than 2 A4 pages)
