Outspoken leading light of Scotland’s literary culture Ewan Morrison returns to the SWC to talk about his latest books and screenplays and the recent experience of adapting his novel Swung into a motion picture. He will also air some of his favourite controversies, such as the new trends and survival strategies he sees developing in writing as the bottom falls out of the market (there were £98 million less books sold in 2013 than the previous year.)

Ewan Morrison is Glenfiddich Scottish Writer of the year 2012/13, winner of the Scottish Book of the Year (SMIT) Fiction Prize 2013, and author of six books. His novel Swung was made into a feature film starring Pedro Almodovar’s leading lady Elena Anaya in December 2013. His last two prize winning books, Tales from the Mall and Close Your Eyes have been highly acclaimed by critics and by internationally renowned writers such as Douglas Coupland and James Frey. He is currently completing his seventh book and the screenplay of the same story concurrently; it is entitled Day One.
