Acclaimed novelist, playwright and Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Writer of the Year hosts this three part course which will introduce aspiring writers to the key skills required to put together a successful piece of writing for publication. This first session will focus on how to structure a story.
Alan Bissett has written four novels: Boyracers (2001); The Incredible Adam Spark (2005); Death of a Ladies' Man (2009), which was short-listed for the Scottish Arts Council Book Award; and Pack Men (2011), the sequel to Boyracers.
Alan moved into playwriting in 2009 with Ching Room and The Moira Monologues, a "one woman show" that he has performed across Scotland.Turbo Folk, written in collaboration with Sacha Kyle in 2010, was nominated for Best New Play at the Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland. His latest play, The Red Hourglass, premiered at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe to much acclaim.
