Scottish Writers' Centre Storytelling to Nourish the Soul with Lea Taylor

Tue 16 August 2016

What is storytelling and what does it entail? Who is storytelling for? Storyteller Lea Taylor will discuss the innovation of the creative process as it relates to Burnsʼ Tam OʼShanter. She will discuss the dilemma of being English, not wanting to offend by telling the story with the wrong accent, in the wrong manner, and her approach and process in trying on the story in different guises, eventually deciding to portray Tam from an outsider's perspective.

Lea Taylor is a storyteller and Development Worker based in Midlothian. Originally from the Cotswolds, Taylor moved to Scotland after extensive travelling in South America. Following 18 years working for the Council as a Community Worker she made the conscious decision to make storytelling a career because, in her words, “storytelling provides very rich and varied working environments.”
