Wondering what a seed library is and how to get involved?

Join a friendly and immersive talk for folk who are curious about seed saving, how seeds relate to the food on our plate and how seed libraries can support community and climate resilience.

Learn about:

- The journeys that vegetables take from seed to our plates
- Funky types of bean and what influenced their names
- Why we should adapt seeds in our communities
- How to borrow and save seeds from Glasgow Seed Library

This event is for new Seed-lings! For anyone who is new to the realm of seed saving and would like to learn about its importance in adapting vegetables and other plants for our changing Scottish climate. It's a safe space to ask silly questions!

Together we will pot up some seeds together and there will also be free seed packs to take away with you.

We will finish by sharing a delicious meal together from Milk Cafe.

About the organisers

Food & Climate Action is a project delivered by Glasgow Community Food Network, in partnership with six organisations in Glasgow and funded by The National Lottery. Our food system and the climate crisis are inextricably linked. Not only is our Western industrial food system one of the main drivers of climate change, but a changing climate will also impact access and availability of food in Scotland, particularly for migrant and low income communities. We need a more resilient, climate-friendly and just food system in which everyone has access to nutritious and culturally appropriate food. Come and learn some of the skills to build more resilient, local food systems in our communities.

Glasgow Seed Library is a collection of seeds and a community of growers. The library stocks organic and open-pollinated vegetable, herb and flower seeds for everyone to borrow, grow and save. By learning to save and share seed locally, we can nurture unique varieties and adapt our plants to a changing Scottish climate.
