Scottish Sculpture Workshop presents Edge Effects; a programme of workshops, walks, sound work, film and performance that explore the complex co-dependencies between ecological, social, economic, and political phenomena. For this programme SSW brings together the processes developed through Frontiers in Retreat with a wider group of artist’s practice.
We invite you to join these artist led workshops, walks and talks both at CCA and across the city at offsite locations. At the Arlington Baths Club artists Mari Keski-Korsu and Maaria Alén will offer one to one sauna whisking treatments in her work Beat to the Balance, and starting at the Pearce Institute and following the flow of the Clyde sonic artist Ximena Alarcon will guide a two day intensive Deep Listening workshop that seeks out possibilities for a post fossil fuel Scotland.
Evening performances will include new work by Aine O’Dwyer, presented in collaboration with Counterflows and Charasmatic Megafauna will have their Scottish premier.
At CCA, there will be newly-commissioned film work by artists including Carl Giffney, Nabb + Teeri and Mirko Nikolić, alongside the Edge Effects library activated by artists, land workers and inter-species communicators.
Look out for interventions across the city including sonic mediation at bus stops by Brett Bloom and community crafted shortbread by Sylvia Grace Borda and the Lumsden community bakers.
