Kathleen Jamie

One of Scotland's greatest poets Kathleen Jamie will be reading from her new collection The Bonniest Companie. She will be supported by local poets Stewart Sanderson and Kathrine Sowerby.


Kathleen Jamie was born in Renfrewshire, Scotland. She studied philosophy at Edinburgh University. Awarded an Eric Gregory at nineteen, Jamie used the money to travel, especially in the Himalayas, something that's significantly influenced both her poetry and prose. Her nine collections of poetry include The Queen of Sheba, Mr & Mrs Scotland are Dead, Jizzen, and The Tree House which between them have garnered three TS Eliot Award nominations, two Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prizes, and two Forward Poetry Prizes. She is currently lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Stirling. Her most recent collection The Bonniest Companie came out in 2015


Stewart Sanderson was born in Glasgow in 1990. In 2014 he was shortlisted for the Edwin Morgan Award for Scottish poets under thirty. In 2015 he received an Eric Gregory Award. His first pamphlet, Fios (pronounced 'fiss'), was published in September 2015 by Tapsalteerie.


Kathrine Sowerby has an MFA from Glasgow School of Art and an MLitt in Creative Writing from Glasgow University. She curates and makes fourfold, and won a 2013 New Writers Award from the Scottish Book Trust. She is part of an ongoing Highlight Arts translation project working with poets from Lahore, Pakistan and her chapbooks include Unnecessarily Emphatic (Red Ceilings Press, 2015) and Margaret and Sunflower (dancing girl press, 2016). kathrinesowerby.com.
