Four separate lives become intertwined in this poignant, stripped-back look at love...in the past participle. Winning play of the New Works Festival 2013 by Barclay Award-winning playwright.
This is a one night only preview for Student Theatre at Glasgow's 2013 Edinburgh Fringe show (2012: Broadway Baby, Skinny; 2011: The Herald, The Scotsman).
This performance will be followed by a post-show discussion. Feedback forms will also be provided.
Love in the Past Participle won the New Works 2013 competition, hosted at the S.P.A.C.E., Glasgow, and judged by a panel fronted by Gary McNair. Presented for the first time since then, this special preview event will provide useful exploration space and feedback for the production, before it opens on 2 August at theSpace @ Surgeons’ Hall, where it runs until 17 August.
John May is a Glasgow-based writer and director. His first play, The Room, won the Barclay Writers Award, judged by Sir Alan Ayckbourn. John was then admitted onto a two-year Arts Council England writers development course, during which he received positive feedback from The Royal Court Theatre, the iSPC and had work performed at the Harrogate Theatre and CultureShock! Festival. He received a special commendation from The Scotsman for his first foray at the Fringe in 2009 and has since had pieces performed across the UK and in North America. Most recently his work has been seen at the Traverse (What Will Men Wear When Women Wear Trousers), CCA (LGBT: In Our Own Words) and the Kenan Theatre, North Carolina, USA.
