State of The Union is Brooks Williams & Boo Hewerdine.

Brooks is an ultra-sophisticated bluesman from Georgia and Boo is an indie veteran from the suburbs of North London. Their music is about the meeting of those two worlds. And how, despite different journeys they have the same musical instincts. On their first album they played a slide guitar version of The Pet Shop Boys ‘Rent’ on the Andrew Marr show. ‘Snake Oil’, the second album, was gushed over in a four star Q review. Live they are nothing short of thrilling. Two men, two acoustic guitars and two lifetimes in music. Now with their new album,‘The Saltwell Sessions’, they are back on the road again. The album was recorded live in the studio. Each song a cover, some obscure, some beloved. Brooks or Boo would bring a new song to the table. It would be arranged, learnt and recorded. Then it was on to the next one. The sessions were a mixture of reminiscing, laughter and looking forward. I think you can hear that.

State of the Union play CCA in support of their third album for Reveal Records in Autumn 2017.
