Deep Red

Sunder Cinema Presents Deep Red and GORTA

Deep Red, directed by the maestro Dario Argento, is considered not only one of his finest pieces of work, but regarded as one of the greatest Giallo films of all time. It helped define its genre and change the landscape of European horror with critics even comparing its impact to that of The Exorcist, Psycho and Jaws.

The film takes place with musician Marcus Daly (David Hemmings) witnessing the murder of the famous medium Helga Ulmann (Macha Meril). This leads Marcus into an investigation with reporter Gianna Brezzi (Daria Nicolodi) to solve the mystery of the murderer with the black leather gloves.

This screening will use Arrow's new 4K scan print which was released earlier this year.

Deep Red will be accompanied by the Glasgow-based short GORTA which is directed by John Gorman and written/produced by Martin Conaghan. GORTA takes place in a hotel room focusing on a woman (Madeleine Havell) and her mysterious black leather bag, the contents of which are unknown until the plot begins to unravel.

After the screening we are delighted to hold a Q&A with both John Gorman and Martin Conaghan.
