TalkSeePhotography NOTES: Two Years On | In Conversation

For Talk See Photography’s April event we are delighted to welcomes NOTES Journal.

NOTES is a Scottish artist-led photography journal which aims to develop visual and critical grassroots discourses in Scottish photography thinking and practice. The current editorial team Melanie Letoré and Nina Bacos (TSP) are joined by new members Steven Swinney and Jolanta Dolewska in a conversation about achievements, issues, wishes, visions and aims for the future. The floor will then be opened to the public.

The event marks the two-year anniversary since the NOTES team started working together and this open forum will be an opportunity for the editors to chart their journey and invite informal feedback from the audience, ahead of the release of Issue 4. Although gathering feedback has been done informally since the journal’s inception, the editors would like to encourage the audience to critically think about how they would like to see the magazine evolve.

What does the Scottish photography scene need more of? What direction should the journal grow in? How does the journal balance the issues it raised (identity/landscape/environment) in conversation with its audiences? How does NOTES expand audiences? Which content has been most beneficial and why?
