TalkSeePhotography December
Mon 12 December 2016
TalkSeePhotography December is delighted to host a discussion around artist-led programming and curatorial practices. The event will be hosted by John Farrell and Melanie Letore who with invited guests will discuss the ethos, content, and importance of inclusive cross sectional artist-led programming within photography contexts in Scotland.
Beginning with the short history of the SLAMs and The Milk Diaries initiative, the discussion will (temporarily?) replace the previous years' curatorial slam with the same aim - to contribute to a dialogue and opportunity around critical involvement with artist-run programming and curatorial initiatives. That artist-run initiatives in permanent and less permanent forms are important additions to institutional cultures (as agile bodies able of providing opportunities for artists and their audiences) is uncontested. The discussions in this event will regard but won't be limited to how this space within the photography context can be better and more explicitly intersectional in Scotland and what concerns are important to hold in mind when developing initiatives.
