TalkSeePhotography May
Mon 8 May 2017
Adam Geary, Deirdre MacKenna and Frances Scott are artists/curators/programmers and institutional representatives. All of them mix their practices in these fields: Geary runs AGLU BOOKS and works in the cultural sector in Kilmarnock; MacKenna programmes, commissions, runs residencies and makes art; and Scott builds context and makes photographs. All of them have experiences and knowledge of contexts outside of Glasgow and have worked with culture and art in rural or non-metropolitan areas. Tonight's conversation will be about these contexts.
As expressed in TalkSeePhotography's March event by the likes of Matt Sillars from Flow, the community of people interested in photography in Scotland need more opportunities to take part in and learn from both international and national photographic practices and exhibitions. This requires initiatives across the country, as well as conversations that stretch out from the confines of the perceived centres and the perceived margins. Tonight's event is intended to be one such starting point.
