TalkSeePhotography is a monthly photography workshop, organised for and by artists working with still imagery in Glasgow that aims to be a forum for sharing, discussing and looking at photography. Its focus will be centred on visual presentations by photographers and thinkers, which will be followed by an open discussion.

Given the abundance of Photography Projections by 2014Frames which will take place the week before the April event, TalkSeePhotography has decided to catch the moment to sound out what we think may be needed to create more opportunities for photography culture in Scotland. Through presentations by Ben Harman from Stills gallery Edinburgh, Ben Rush founding member of Glasgow PhoCo (a newly formed artist run gallery, studio and workshop group), and Nina Bacos TalkSeePhotography, we will open up a discussion around Scottish photography’s possibilities, lacks, visions and plans.

Photography has always been incredibly multifaceted, exiting and challenging, and there has never been a comprehensive way to describe, present or analyse it in all its diverse forms. The last 10 years development has made this condition even more complex and diverse. What the TSP April event aims to do is to open a conversation, which inspires to establish ways of tapping into all the possibilities that photography has today; more places to show, discuss and make photography, more outlets and more critical frameworks to meet the different challenges there are. It is not enough to celebrate what is here, we also need to sit back and critically think of what needs to change so come along and be part of the present to make the future.
