TalkSeePhotography
In response to the important questions raised at the last TSP around photographic representation and refugees rights to not only temporary safety but also a future in an increasingly hardened political climate, it has been vital to follow up with an urgent conversation about such practice in the long term. What happens when the immediacy of the so-called 'crisis' subsides and the condition becomes normality?
Iseult Timmermans will present at TalkSeePhotography’s November event. Iseult Timmermans is one of Scotland's most experienced and involved artists working with collaborative practice in marginalised communities. Her work at Red Road in particular stands out as a practice with long term engagement in multiple projects, such as workshops, open portrait studios, environmental exhibitions, setting up a gallery/darkroom/studio space and commissions.
Iseult Timmermans (FAP GSA 95) has been involved in making work and establishing opportunities for others across a range of settings from the mid 1990s. She is widely exhibited in formal and non-formal settings and is represented in The National Portrait Gallery collection. Her collaborative approach to art practice has developed while working for 19 years with Street Level Photoworks – establishing their award winning outreach programme. She continues to explore the boundaries of collaborative arts practices and the creative applications of photography, with a particular interest in cultural identity. She is also artist in residence with GRAMnet.

TalkSeePhotography is organised for and by artists working with still imagery. It is a forum for sharing, discussing and looking at photography. The discussions take a point of departure in a presentation images as point of departure. TalkSeePhotogrpahy’s long term aim is to create a platform in Scotland for national and international photography. To achieve this it engages local and international artists and thinkers in presentations, workshops and collaborations.
