The Dice Roll Cafe NSPCC Big Board Game Day Fundraiser

Sun 26 March 2017

The Dice Roll Cafe

This week the Dice Roll Cafe is hosting a special fundraiser for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). The ‘Big Board Game Day’ has become an annual event, raising funds and the profile of the charity’s work against child abuse and neglect. As well as donation boxes being available in the cafe, a portion of the day's takings will be also be given to the NSPCC to help fund their important work in Scotland.

The Dice Roll Cafe is a regular board game meet-up, designed to encourage casual and 'uninitiated' folk to the splendour that is modern gaming! Serving it up with a massive dollop of tasty food and easy chat.

They set up on a Sunday, every two weeks, upstairs in the CCA, bringing along a giant selection of games up for playing. You turn up, solo, in a gang or whatever, and off we set for some tabletop-based fun! Simple.

There are plenty of options, as the Cafe now hosts a library of OVER 100 GAMES for you to choose from (and you are of course welcome to bring your own too!) Games range from easy, rules-light, fast plays to the more epic campaign-based afternoon features, from very familiar classic games we'll all recognise from our childhood to other titles that maybe new to you but are played by millions worldwide!

For this week only admission for DRC will be £3 (normally £2) per player to help raise funds for the NSPCC, but as always you're welcome to stay all day, and try out as many games as you like. The DRC team will be on hand to recommend the best and get you up and running within no time.

There will also be a special raffle event during the day with prizes donated by some of Glasgow's best local businesses, including gaming goodies from A1 Static Games; meals at Saramago also Cafezique; and luxury treats from Sugar Snap Chocolate and Paper Street Dolls!

Saramago will be offering their best selection of beers and beverages as well as their renowned brunch and veggie dinner menus. Their food regularly tops the best food lists in Glasgow, so definitely not to be missed!

At 7PM, DRC usually get a big party game setup. These are big games designed for large numbers of players, easy on rules and heavy emphasis on easy chat and socialising. It's a great way to meet people and usually keeps people staying and playing till the very last orders at closing time!

This week's mass game is the ever-popular assassination-triller Two Rooms & A Boom.

The venue is fully wheelchair accessible via the CCA’s main Sauchiehall Street entrance- just ride the lift up, located on the left after reception.

So whether you're looking for a novel Mother's Day outing, or looking to relive a wee bit of childhood nostalgia with friends, spare a thought for those growing up without that support, come spend a little goodwill for the NSPCC at Dice Roll Cafe this Sunday!
