Hayes Carll
Grammy Award 2016 nominee Hayes Carll plays CCA in April. Please note, this is a non-seated show.
The Texan singer/songwriter has received a Best Country Song nomination for Chances Are, a stand-out track on the current Lee Ann Womack album, The Way I’m Livin’.
Chances Are has also been nominated for Best Country Solo Performance, though that award goes to the performer rather than the songwriter.
Hayes, who’s working on a new album, is rightly “blown away” by the nomination and grateful to Lee Ann for recording the song.
Hayes Carll is an odd mix. Wildly literate, impossibly romantic and absolutely a slave to the music, the 35-year old Texan is completely committed to the truth and unafraid to skewer pomposity, hypocrisy and small-minded thinking.
“Hayes’ shows are never a let down as his songs are both amusing and heart-rending while his chat can be hilarious,” said Kevin Morris of the Fallen Angels Club.
“...simple songs that are simply grand. With a nod to Hank Williams and a wink to Woody Guthrie, Carll’s good-time music also takes a sombre look at current uncertainties.” - Paste Magazine
