Come along to this evening of screenings and music to celebrate the launch of the publication East End Transmissions. The event will present a special program of artists’ films and experimental documentaries reacting to past and present regeneration plans all over the world, as well as a DJ session.

The publication accompanies the curatorial programme East End Transmissions (Nov 14 – Dec 7 2014), curated by Francesca Zappia as part of her residency at The Pipe Factory in Glasgow. It features essays by Heather McLean, CCA Director Francis McKee and Francesca Zappia and has been designed by Jen Devonshire.

The East End Transmissions programme aimed to engage within the local context of the East End of Glasgow, transmitting hidden memories and events of the area in the shadow of the regeneration concurrent to the 2014 Commonwealth Games. It featured a series of commissioned works by Jen Devonshire, Aideen Doran, Virginia Hutchison, Thomas Leyland Collins, Kit Mead, Douglas Morland, Janie Nicoll, Lyndsey Smith and Susannah Stark; a programme of events and posters made with the community.

The East End Transmissions publication takes the project a step further and aims to open new perspectives and discussions, reflecting on memory, history, regeneration and art-related activities in the contemporary world. The exhibition website will remain active for further contributions, allowing the project to develop and grow beyond traditional exhibition structures.

These will be continued further by an open call for collaboration on the website of the exhibition. Visit www.eastendtransmissions.net for more.
