An evening of reading, performance and screenings staged by Art Writing at The Glasgow School of Art.

Tongue & Groove features an evening of presentations from the graduating Art Writing cohort and launches the fourth edition of The Yellow Paper: Journal for Art Writing, edited by programme leader Laura Haynes, and including contributions from 2023’s Art Writing graduates and new writing by CAConrad, Esther Draycott, Maria Howard, Silas Lehane, Michael Pedersen, Tawnya Selene Renelle and Sebastian Taylor. Writing by The Yellow Prize for New Writing winners Caitlin Merrett King (The Ludicrously Capacious Bag) and Lucie McLaughlin (Vest Tops, Decisive Gestures) is also published with edition 4.

This is not a biography*, a special imprint anthologising Biographical Fictioning, Art Writing’s two-part masterclasses in 2022, is published alongside edition 4 of The Yellow Paper. This is not a biography*, edited by Laura Haynes, Alice Hill-Woods and Kate Timney, includes new writing from Emma Aars, Kate Briggs, Kat Chimonides, Nicky Coutts, Esther Draycott, Laurence Figgis, María Garay Arriba, Athene Greig, Laura Haynes, Alice Hill-Woods, Sarah Long, Sara O’Brien, Michael Pedersen, Kate Power, Rebecca Fortnum, Stephen Sutcliffe and Kate Timney.

Vest Tops, Decisive Gestures, by Lucie McLaughlin, attempts to capture the ambition and confusion of an art writing practice. A succession of instants, anecdotes and interactions emerge through the gaps between wanting to write, writing and being ‘a writer’.

Ludicrously Capacious Bag is a collection of recent writing by Caitlin Merrett King on looking at art, absorbing culture and feeling feelings.

Class of ’23 includes: Emma Aars, Donald Butler, Aurelie Chan Hon Sen, Gianni Esporas, Kelcey Flaherty, Emily Foster, María Garay Arriba, Alice Hill Woods, Theo Hynan Ratcliffe, Iona Marshall and Kate Timney.
