UNFIX ReBirth Call out for Submissions

UNFIX’s next event will happen at CCA in the depths of winter, in hibernation time. We want to create a communal event that urges cultural / social / economic / environmental / psychic renewal. We’d like your help.

We need artists, activists, rituals, performance, music, film, visual art, communal acts, testimony, healing, alchemy. We need mid-wives.

Birth is literal, metaphorical and happening all around us. It’s often painful and traumatic. It turns inwards and outwards, gestates and explodes. Rebirth is the cyclical process of renewing ourselves, either intentionally or because we’re forced to. This can happen many times in one lifespan, or even every day.

The context is an apparent human regression, a death-drive of meanness and small thinking: Brexit, Trump, ‘our’ new prime minister’s cancelling of the department of climate change, assaults on human rights, terrorism, Othering, aggression and fear.

What to do? Where can we source hope and renewal? How can we resist the death rattle?
How can we make ourselves safe enough (gestation) to keep flowering (ReBirth)?

At this stage, we’re looking for brief expressions of interest. If you’d like to propose an artwork or event in any form or genre, please answer the following questions:

What will it look/sound like? (approximately 200 words)
What is your availability between 12 - 18 December?

We will be applying for funding for this event so please outline what resources you would require in order to stage your work.
