Victor & Hester (Amelia Bywater and Emma Fitts) will use the Creative Lab to research the histories and surrounding contexts of three female figures: Marlow Moss(UK), Rowena Cade(UK) and Marilyn Waring(NZ), who offer three different experiences yet share a context of a shifting sense of invisibility.
Working between Scotland and New Zealand and taking the 1920s theatre space built by Rowena Cade as a starting point, the artists will use the residency to explore processes of re-performing and re-documenting to potentially set the histories of these women adrift in order to consider their own engagement with the material and to look for ways to address the visibility of these women, strategies of hiding, and experiences of exile or exclusion.
