VSF17 Children's Day

By special request! We listened to feedback from last year's inaugural festival and the overwhelming request was for more activities suitable for children and families. Well you ask... you get!


10.30am - 11.00am Imagine Lab (pre 5) Clubroom
Storytelling and creative play for under 5's and their adults to cook up fantastic fictions and discover new worlds together. A friendly and informal session and a great environment for little ones developing early speaking and listening skills


10.30am - 11.00am Suit and Pace (Family) Theatre
Join Suit and Pace Storyteller Andrew Coull for stories, songs and story games for all the family. Adventures in forests, little girls standing up to big bullies, and the chance to make up a story for yourself! Ideal for every branch on the family tree!


11.10am - 11.50am Growing Stories (Family / all age) Clubroom
Why did the Emperor use growing a plant from seed to decide on the future ruler? All stories begin with the planting of a seed. A fun story and literal seed planting hands on session for all the family.


11.10am - 11.50am Peter Chand - Rajah’s Rani’s and Riddles! (8-12yrs) Theatre
Indian stories of kings, queens, and massive riddles to twist your mind... International storyteller Peter Chand will be sharing some of his favourite stories, and also testing the audience with some of his sharpest riddles, many collected from pupils in schools all across Britain and further afield.


12.00 - 12.30pm Themed crafts with Fiona Rich (all ages) Clubroom
Join Fiona Rich of Creative corner for fantastic creative arts for all the family. We guarantee you'll have a fab time and create some funky artworks!


12.00 - 12.30pm Suit and Pace (pre-5s) Theatre
Join Suit and Pace Storyteller Andrew Coull for some fun, interactive storytelling for under 5s. Stories of tasty food and tiny animals that everyone can get involved with! Bring along plenty of ideas and your singing voices! Perfect for the little shoots in your life!


12.30pm - 2.00pm Face painting with Fiona Rich (all ages) Clubroom
Superheroes, animals, mermaids, pirates and more. If you can imagine it, Fiona Rich can face paint it! What will you be?


12.30pm - 1.15pm Creepy Crawly Crafts with Joanne Marr (5-11 years) Clubroom
Get creative and make your favourite creepy crawly! Squiggly Spiders, beautiful butterflies, busy bees or lovely ladybirds... what mini-beast masterpiece will you create?


12.45pm - 1.30pm Stories from the Punjab and Beyond with Peter Chand (Family/all age) Theatre
A fun, interactive, and very lively session of Indian tales for the family from storyteller Peter Chand. Peter has shared his stories from Singapore to Southall, Dublin to Delhi, Canada to Cardiff, and many a place in between .... Join him and his incredible tales as he takes you on a magical and fun-filled journey with stories from all over the Indian sub-continent.


1.15pm - 2.00pm Song Writing with Lauren Bianchi (Family/all ages) Clubroom
Ever tried your hand at silly songwriting? Sometimes ideas just flow better in a group! Lyricise your words and we'll create original songs together. Some titles you may have heard of from these sessions previously include: The Best Piece Ever, The Owl Wore a Jumper and My Lost Teddy – to name a few classics!
