WARM Sundays Sasha Airlie
For our latest WARM Sunday Sacha Airlie will share a discussion of current painting and video experiments that respond to a personal and objective refection of an unoccupied croft house on the Isle of Lewis .
Sacha will be showing works in progress that are developed through the structural process of video editing as a way to explore image making and the transgressive potential of this particular site. The process of painting and video as form of materiality, in a sculptural sense, and a refection through writing are some of methods employed in the process. Themes which have been consistent in her audio visual practice and relate to the psychological tensions that can arise within the thresholds of presence/absence, self/other, memory/liveness.
Sacha is a Glasgow based artist Past exhibitions and projects have included, PULSE, temporary artworks and Artist flms, co curated by Picture window and Patricia Fleming and a research based collaboration with the London based flm collective A Nos Amours to bring a selection the late Chantal Akerman’s flms to Glasgow.
WARM is a support network founded by and for women working as artists in Glasgow. It provides a space where women can discuss and develop their artistic practices and aims to explore ways of working that aid women and challenge the current accepted paradigm of artists working solely for their own self promotion.
