Welcome Home Pots for People

Welcome Home
Welcome Home's June window display comes from Pots for People.
Pots for People is an ongoing project to maintain awareness and raise money for people in need. This set of bowls were made for Calais Kitchens.
Calais Kitchens feed 6,000 refugees in Calais and Dunkirk daily, using 2,000 kilos of rice, 6,000 tins of fish, 5,760 tins of tomatoes and 28,880 tins of chickpeas per week. This food goes into emergency packs of provisions, supplying the community kitchens where refugees cook for themselves and preparing thousands of delicious, nutritious hot meals for both camps daily.
This set of pots were painted by people in Glasgow at two different events; one at the Project Cafe and one at Govanhill Monday Free Dinner.
These pots will not only give some financial aid to this project, but also act as a symbol for compassion towards each other. Our hope is that the pots will serve as a link between our daily lives and the ongoing struggles of others. It is easy to feel disconnected from global issues such as poverty and hunger and hopefully the presence of these pots can encourage local conversation and mindfulness.
The pots are being sold commission free in Welcome Home on a donation basis (minimum £20). All donations raised will go to Calais Kitchens.
