Bar Manager
About CCA
CCA is a not-for-profit, multi-purpose, centre for contemporary art and culture located in the city centre of Glasgow. We host a year-round programme of exhibitions, events, films, music, literature, workshops, festivals and performances. As part of the venue’s development, CCA will open an in-house bar to serve our audiences and programme partners.
Role Specification
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Bar Manager to lead our bar operations and contribute to the overall success of the next phase of our development.
The Bar Manager will shape the development of the CCA’s in-house bar, in line with the organisation’s visions and values. The Bar Manager will play a pivotal role in creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for our patrons while overseeing all aspects of our licensed operations. Our ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the CCA team to shape service alongside our cultural programme.
Responsibilities
- 1. Leadership and Team Management:
Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of staff to ensure exceptional customer service and operational efficiency.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, professionalism, and personal development among staff members.
- 2. Beverage Program Development:
Develop and implement innovative and culturally relevant beverage programs that reflect the ethos and identity of our establishment.
- 3. Inventory Management and Cost Control:
Maintain optimal inventory levels by monitoring stock levels, conducting regular inventory audits, and placing orders with suppliers as needed.
Implement cost control measures to minimise waste, maximise profitability, and ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- 4. Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and licensing requirements pertaining to the sale and service of alcoholic beverages.
Uphold high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety in the bar area, including regular equipment maintenance and sanitation procedures.
- 5. Customer Experience Enhancement:
Continuously strive to enhance the overall guest experience by delivering exceptional service, anticipating customer needs, and addressing feedback and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Collaborate with other departments to coordinate special events, promotions, and cultural programming that complement the bar experience.
- 6. Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Prepare regular financial reports and performance analyses to track sales, expenses, and profitability metrics.
Utilise data-driven insights to identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost savings, and operational improvements.
Skills and Qualifications
- Scotland Licensing Act Personal Licence Holder
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.
Excellent knowledge of beverage trends and industry best practices.
Demonstrated expertise in inventory management, cost control, and financial analysis.
Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and compliance standards governing the sale and service of alcoholic beverages.
Passion for the arts, culture, and community engagement, with a commitment to delivering memorable experiences for guests.
