About CCA

CCA is a not-for-profit, multi-purpose, centre for contemporary art and culture located in the city centre of Glasgow. We host a year-round programme of exhibitions, events, films, music, literature, workshops, festivals and performances. As part of the venue’s development, CCA will open an in-house bar to serve our audiences and programme partners.


Role Specification

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Bar Staff. The ideal candidates will have a passion for hospitality, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-faceted and cultural environment. As a member of our bar team, you will play a key role in creating memorable experiences for our patrons through exceptional beverage service and friendly interaction.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beers, wines, and specialty drinks, according to established recipes and standards.

  • Welcome and engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, taking orders, making recommendations, and providing assistance as needed to ensure a positive experience.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including stocking supplies, cleaning glassware, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards at all times.

  • Work collaboratively with other bar staff, servers, and kitchen team members to coordinate orders, expedite service, and deliver a seamless experience for guests.

  • Stay informed about the bar menu, including current offerings, specials, and promotions, and be able to answer questions and provide recommendations to customers.

  • Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies governing the sale and service of alcoholic beverages, including checking identification and preventing overconsumption.


Skills

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry is preferred but not required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanour.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as independently during busy periods.

  • Basic maths skills and proficiency in handling transactions accurately.

  • Knowledge of beverage service techniques, including mixing, pouring, and garnishing drinks, is an advantage.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and standards as required.
