Bar Supervisor
About CCA
CCA is a not-for-profit, multi-purpose, centre for contemporary art and culture located in the city centre of Glasgow. We host a year-round programme of exhibitions, events, films, music, literature, workshops, festivals and performances. As part of the venue’s development, CCA will open an in-house bar to serve our audiences and programme partners.
Role Specification
The Food & Beverage Supervisor will work closely with the Bar Manager to oversee all aspects of bar and culinary operations and guest service. This role requires a passion for hospitality, strong leadership skills, and the ability to assist in driving the team towards excellence.
Responsibilities
Operational Support: Assist in the day-to-day management of food and beverage operations, including bar and catering services, ensuring seamless service delivery.
Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to the food and beverage team, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and guest satisfaction.
Menu Coordination: Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Manager and culinary team to develop menus that reflect the cultural ethos of the establishment and cater to diverse tastes.
Quality Control: Monitor food quality, presentation, and service standards to ensure consistency and exceed guest expectations.
Training and Development: Assist in training and mentoring staff on service standards, product knowledge, and guest interaction to enhance the overall dining experience.
Guest Experience: Interact with guests to ensure satisfaction, address any concerns promptly, and proactively seek opportunities to enhance their experience.
Inventory Management: Support inventory control procedures, including ordering, receiving, and storage of food and beverage supplies to minimise waste and optimise cost control.
Event Coordination: Assist in coordinating special events, private functions, and catering services, ensuring smooth execution and guest satisfaction.
Skills and Qualifications
Scotland Licensing Act Personal Licence Holder
Proven experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a cultural or arts-related establishment.
Strong leadership abilities with a track record of motivating and managing teams to achieve outstanding results.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, patrons, and stakeholders at all levels.
In-depth knowledge of hospitality trends, techniques, and best practices.
Solid understanding of food and beverage cost control, budgeting, and financial management.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-faceted environment, multitask effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
