NEW VENUE - In Our Hands: Seeding Change Screening & Discussion
Thu 5 July 2018
In Our Hands
Please note, this event has moved to The Pearce Institute, 840-860 Govan Rd, Glasgow, G51 3UU. Tickets booked through CCA remain valid.
Following the fire at Glasgow School of Art and the O2 ABC music venue, the Centre for Contemporary Arts remains within the cordoned area in Garnethill. At this time, there is no set date for re-entry, and the centre expects to remain closed for the duration of July and August.
We are working with our programme partners who had scheduled events throughout this period. Details of new venues and cancellations are here.
About the film: "Food and farming is in crisis. In just over a decade we’ve lost more than 33,000 farms from our countryside, and alongside this, bad diet is now causing more health problems than smoking! The fundamental link between people, food and the very land we stand on is being broken. Yet it need not be this way.
There is a growing movement of farmers and food workers who are creating vibrant farms, living soils, thriving food markets and a fairer food system for all. At the heart of all change lies a story, and In Our Hands is the story of a new kind of farm, a new kind of food and a new kind of society. This film has been created as an open source tool in order to debunk the myth of the industrial food system, and be a resource for farmers and activists in building a better world."
The film screening will be followed by a panel and audience discussion about Scottish food security and food sovereignty with Abi Mordin (Propagate) and Fergus Walker (Common Good Food), chaired by Svenja Meyerricks (Centre for Human Ecology).
