NEW VENUE Lajee Cultural Tours Sounds of Freedom - Celebration of Palestinian Struggle
Fri 10 August 2018
This event has been moved to St George's Tron Church of Scotland, 163 Buchanan Street, Glasgow, G1 2JX.
Following the fire at Glasgow School of Art and the O2 ABC music venue, the Centre for Contemporary Arts remains within the cordoned area in Garnethill. At this time, there is no set date for re-entry, and the centre expects to remain closed for the duration of July and August.
We are working with our programme partners who had scheduled events throughout this period. Details of new venues and cancellations are here.
Come and join us for an evening celebration of Palestinian culture, art and resistance.
As part of the Sounds of Freedom tour, we will be welcoming to Glasgow a group of young Palestinian dancers, musicians and artists from Lajee Center, a cultural arts centre in the heart of Aida refugee camp in Palestine.
There will be a film screening and short talk by Lajee Centre’s Media Unit, exploring the life and resistance of Palestine’s youth today. There will also be a live performance of dabke dance and live traditional Palestinian music.
Lajee Center’s Sounds of Freedom tour will visit Belfast, Glasgow, Halifax and London throughout August. The tour celebrates the creativity and resilience of Palestine’s youth and the struggle for the right of return and freedom. This will be an incredible tour, bringing together many groups and people across the UK and Ireland, and it is a unique opportunity for audiences to hear and see Palestine through the eyes of her youth.
Tickets can be purchased on the door at £5, please arrive early to avoid disappointment. All proceeds will go to Lajee Center. The venue is fully accessible.
