NEW VENUE & NEW DATE Pity Party Film Club True Stories

Sat 20 October 2018

Please note this event has moved to the Seamore Neighbourhood Cinema. It was originally scheduled for CCA on 6 October, and will now go ahead at the Seamore on Sat 20 Oct.

Following the fire at Glasgow School of Art and the O2 ABC music venue, the Centre for Contemporary Arts remains within the cordoned area in Garnethill. At this time, there is no set date for re-entry, and we expect to remain closed for the duration of September.

We are working with our programme partners who had scheduled events throughout this period. Details of new venues and cancellations are here.

Pity Party Film Club presents a rare screening of True Stories, directed by and starring David Byrne of Talking Heads.

Set in the fictional town of Virgil, Texas and based on tales from tabloid newspapers, Byrne cruises in a red cadillac introducing viewers to the local eccentrics gearing up for the town's 150th anniversary parade, the 'Celebration of Specialness'. They include a community leader (Spalding Gray) with a thing for veggies, a woman (Swoosie Kurtz) so lazy she won't leave her bed, a lovelorn country singer (John Goodman) and more.
