Shongram

Bangladesh Association Glasgow (BAG) invites you to celebrate the 50th Victory Day of Bangladesh by screening Shongram with the presence of the director and writer Mr. Munsur Ali. Shongram is a romantic drama set during the 1971 liberation struggle of Bangladesh, starring Anupam Kher (Silver Linings Playbook, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge), Hollywood star Asia Argento (Triple X, Marie Antoinette) alongside talented Bangladeshi artists Dilruba Yasmeen Ruhee and Amaan Reza.

Synopsis

A daring reporter 'Sarah' (Asia Argento) interviews a Bangladeshi Londoner named 'Karim' (Anupam Kher) on his deathbed, who finally shares his account four decades later. Through his testimony, Sarah steps back in time to when the young Karim fell in love with Hindu Asha and was separated from his sweetheart by the outbreak of war. Forced to take up arms as a freedom fighter, Karim faces agonising moral dilemmas as he diligently serves his country.
